Mary and Michael Doepke, longtime residents of Western Springs, opened Home Helpers of Hinsdale, IL, in April of 2005.
That’s just a few months after Mary was called to New York to help her mother care for her father, who had suffered a stroke. An experienced RN, Mary was equipped to handle the task. But she realized that other families didn’t have such resources available.
Soon after returning from New York, Mary and Mike learned that Mike’s sister would have surgery followed by chemotherapy. While accompanying her sister-in-law to treatments, Mary saw that others were there alone, with no one to keep them company or to drive them home.
Finally, Mary and Mike had many friends who worried about what to do about caring for their aging parents. Many struggled to find time in their busy lives to provide extra help.
Mary and Mike decided to provide a solution, and Home Helpers Home Care of Hinsdale, IL, was born.
Mary L. Doepke, RN
A natural caregiver, Mary earned her RN license in 1981 after graduating from the Misericordia School of Nursing in New York City. She held supervisory positions at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and the Wadsworth Veterans Administration Hospital in Brentwood (CA) before deciding to focus on Home Health Care.
Mary’s role with Home Helpers is to oversee and guide our care staff while seeing that Home Helpers always stays true to its mission: to provide the highest quality of care to our clients and their families.
Mary’s wealth of knowledge and experience in caregiving is a valuable resource to the care staff and Home Helpers clients.
Michael D. Doepke
